Is the IT Help Desk position offering work at home a scam through temp agency?
Fefe Asked: Is the IT Help Desk position offering work at home a scam through temp agency?
Ummm yeah so basically I applied for this IT Analyst jobthrough a temp agency online which was basically a part time position giving technical support to Apple customers computers from home. The jobs only requirement was to have a basic phone line at home, so I got one. The position sounded like a dream job, because I could work from home and it would have been an entry level job into the IT world because it didn't require any experience.
I went through basically like 3 interviews and a computer test. The first time a recruiter called me from the temp agency location in the mid-west ( I live in Virginia) and I did a phone (short 15 mins) interview with her. The second time another recruiter called me from the mid-west and I completed an interview with them. This one asked me the standard customer service questions, asked me about computer knowledge, and what Apple products I owned – itlasted like an hour. Then the recruiter sent me this link to this site for this test and I completed the test. The test was very challenging, seemed like a method for chopping people, but I passed. Up to this point things seemed to be normal. I received a phone call from the recruiter that I passed the test and she wanted me to complete paperwork online for the job. Once I completed the paperwork online then I would be sent to the hiring team to complete a background check so I completed the paperwork online. I received a phone call from a recruiter asking me to come into a local branch to complete an I-9 form to be registered with the temp agency.
Here is where it gets weird, I drive 70 miles to temp agency in the middle of VA, I explain to the receptionist that I'm there to fill out I-9 form for the help desk position online and he looks at me with a blank stare. I explain to him that the recruiter on the phone sent an email to me asking me to fill out the forms at that location, but they didn't leave a contact number, number for the hiring team, or an address to send the forms. I filled out these forms at the branch andtried to contact the recruiters that I spoke to, to make sure they get the paperwork but no one returns my call. A few weeks later I get an email from some team telling me that they never received any paperwork, and that I missed the hiring date and I would to wait until next time.
I was so irritated and pissed off. I wasted all that timeand effort. I was wondering if there was anybody out there with similar situations to what I went through with temp agencies ect or if these individuals were not representing the agency and that it was a scam to get people to buy a home phone line. I would be very disappointed if this was the temp agency ( I'm leaving names out here), in the past it was a great employment agency, but this just takes the cake. How can you contact someone to tell them to do something and not leave any contact information?

ITS A SCAM… Apple only hires at apple.. Also why do u need I9 if u already u.s. Citizen? That form is for migrant workers.
Hint apple Is very careful who gives service and they require u to be linux proficient.
I would call Apple's headquarters today and speak to their HR office to inform them that scammers are falsely using their name
