Home businesses usually rely on your ability to sell or direct sales to a product or service. Directly promoting and marketing products can help you earn immediate income with little or no risk and if you choose the right company and product, it can be very lucrative, but the key to success is the difference of sharing instead of selling.

This type of business is also known as direct selling, however ‘selling’ does not need to enter into it if you have the right product and know what to do with it. Most people believe that they have to become a high-pressure salesman, and when they take that approach they alienate friends and family and no wonder – who likes a salesman?

The trick to earning a great income from direct marketing is to have a unique product that adds value to people’s lives. It can solve a problem, be healthier, or help them live easier in their everyday life. And it doesn’t have to be a product in the usual sense. You do not have to have an inventory of ‘widgets’ sitting around waiting for you to sell.

When you have the opportunity to present friends, family, even marketing to people online with a product or service that solves a problem or improves their lives by feeling better, looking better, and makes their lives easier, your job becomes one of sharing valuable information and inviting people to look at the product or service that will help them… no selling involved!

The options available are limitless, and top markets include:

2. e-books (on most any subject you can imagine)

4. household products (cleaning, cooking, etc.)
5. green products (improving the environment and related products)

All of these options are growing daily and you can easily market any of them online or offline.  All of these are also great niche markets, which can give you an edge and increase your success rate.

To earn great income with no risk, make sure that the company (product) that you will promote have these attributes:

1.  No inventory. Inventory can cost you $$ – join a company that has autoship direct to customers – not you! The only exception of course if your own personal autoship which may be required to qualify for commissions and bonuses, etc.

2.  A compensation plan that makes sense. What will the company pay you and when? Is it capped at a certain amount every month? How will you get paid? Is the commission you will earn worth your time? Is there a bonus opportunity?

3.  An established company. Do not join a start-up company or a company that has been in business under 2 years.  Generally, these companies are going through a learning curve, and you may suffer for it. A proven, established company will make sure you get paid for your efforts, will have good marketing materials that you can use and will offer proven products that sell (otherwise they would not be in business for several years).

There are plenty of business opportunities for direct marketing today, but your choice now can have a great affect on your future. Choose wisely by using the checklist above at a minimum, really look into the company to see who is behind it and what the company stands for, and do not invest heavily into products that you shouldn’t need to carry.
