kytheatrechic Asked: Have you had success with direct sales companies (WAHM please respond)?

In this economy, I need to generate more income for my family and am looking for some success stories from folks who currently have direct sales home businesses.

What got you started in direct sales?
What was your start up cost?
Did/do you feel pressure to sell from your upline?
What is your average profit margin?
How much time away from your family do you spend doing parties, trunk shows, etc?
Have you ever had a bad experience with your company or a client?

Thank you for your candid answers!

Our ex neighbours had the same trouble – their collie would go for long walks but hold itself until it got home and then pee in the back garden. It just thought it could only go on the lawn.

Now, i dont claim to be an expert, but when we were toilet training our Lab when he was a pup we would each day slowly move the paper that he peed on closer and closer to the back door until it was virtually outside. Then the key was to catch him just as he was about to relieve himself and get him outside asap – and when he did his business praise him up big style!! We also made sure we had a command for him to go to the toilet (for us it's 'wee wees' for a pee and 'be quick' for a poo) and we would tell him over and over again to go, so that he knew it was ok to go where we were telling him.

Like i said, i'm no expert and maybe someone who knows more would have a more helpful suggestion, but we managed to get ours to go outside no problem.& i think a command is a good idea because every night we tell ours to go 'wee wees' and then to 'be quick' and he does, whereas when i look after my friends dog, who doesn't have a command for doing her business, i have a lot of trouble getting her to go last thing at night.

My husky puppy did the same exact thing! it drove me nuts! eventually instead of taking him outside for a really long time i would walk him for a few minutes and if he didnt do his business i would pick him up bring him inside put him down for like a minute or so and as soon as i saw his nose hit the floor like he wanted to pee i would bring him back outside…its a pain but it worked for me… our dog was crated and it didnt have any effect on him going outside. So try that maybe it will work for you too!

He won't go outside because you have told him is is ok to do his business in the house.
By allowing dogs to use pee pads is giving permission to use your house as a bathroom.
Now take one of the pads he has used outside and place it where you want him to go, and when you take him out take him there. Remove all of them from you home and get rid of them.
Those dam things are a waste and making someone rich.

being kept in a cage has taught him to potty wherever inside
you will need to start as if a young pup and take him out every hour
praise when good
do NOT leave a pad down as this will confuse him and make him think it's ok to potty inside
if he potties inside take him directly back out after a firm NO
do also realize that he won't have full control until 6-8 minths old
tie and patience
he should be confined either in a crate or room when you can not keep an eye on him and at night

Puppy pads are the devil when it comes to house breaking. I suggest removing them immediately, or you will be stuck buying them for the rest of your dogs life (as many people with small breeds now have to) Take him out often, and when he does go outside praise him lavishly. Make a HUGE deal of it (you may look silly on the sidewalk, but it's better than having a pee filled pad in your house) Do not yell though when he does have the inevitable accident, if you catch him in the act (and only if) give a firm no, and take him out immediately. If he pees in the house please be sure to clean it with a special urine odor cleaner so he doesn't smell it again. Also be sure to have him neutered in a couple of months.

i think your dog is confused.like others have said pee pads encourage him to go indoors, so this could be the problem.

you may want to try kenneling him while your out and taking him directly outdoors once your home; he'll have accidents becuase he's young, but if you keep at it and dont get off the schedule you shoudln't have any problem.little dogs are harder to house train than bigger ones for some problem.

with the kennel, make sure its tall enough for him to stand in, and turn aroudn fully in; no bigger no smaller; this will encourage him to hold it as dogs don't like to potty where they sleep.

for the actually potty training, make sure to be paitent, have lots of his favorite treats and associate the action with a word.for my dogs, they get a milk bone when they go poopoo outside.their commands are "Go Potty" for peeing and "Go Poopoo" for taking a dump outside.its best to chose a command and stick with it (and tell your family so they stick with the same words as well).sticking with the same command will avoid confusion on the dogs part.

now the important part, don't get aggrevated becuase your dog isn't going; if you watch Cesar then you know that the energy you give off affects your dog.so if your agrevated, your dog will know this and is less likely to go.that leash between you and your puppy is like a conductor that sends your energy waves directly to your pet.when you dog potty's outside go ape **** over it!hoop and holler and get excited like a fool, shower the dog in affection while at the same time saing "Goody *insert command word here*" and give them a treat associated to that action.make sure to wait until the dog finishes their deed before reaction to it, otherwise they might cut off to join in with the celebration.

with the treats, i'd pick a special one just for going potty outside; this way theres a direct association between the treat and the deed and so the dog isn't likely to get tiered of the treat.

you puppy associates the puppy pad with the act of peeing and reward.

Take your puppy to the area in your garden you want him to use as a toilet area at least once every hour and after anything such as excitement or feeding and when he first wakes up.Stay with him until he pees and then give him either a food reward as he pees or by keeping your tone very up beat with lots of praise.

This will take a while and you have to be prepared to wait it out and not play with him or get impatient.before long your puppy will understand that this is the place you want him to do his business and accidents / need to use the pad will become less and less, but remember Blaze is still a puppy and accidents will happen.

If they do happen it is important to stay calm use a sudden but not aggressive word to stop the flow( I always used "OI" )then take the Blaze out to the pee patch and reward him while he finishes up.then return in side. You need him to understand what you want.

The other thing you can try is to take his pads outside, and take him to the pad in the garden to start with.there are pee here sprays that you can get – if you get him used to this smell on the pads and then spray the same scented spray on the area you want him to use.

Take the puppy pad OUTSIDE!
I have a dog that was caged up for the first several months of his life. The only difference I find with him versus my other dog is that he doesn't have a signal for when he needs to potty (my other dog will scratch at the door) – - if I think he needs to go, I walk him outside until he goes (and praise him alot when he does) even if it means pacing back and forth on the street for a long time.
