I own a nutritional company that sells vitamins online out of my home, so it is not a brick and mortar business..do I still need a sellers permit. any help would be appreciated

The only way to know is to call the a government office in California and find out. Actually, call your local city/town hall, since their regulations may be different. However, selling vitamins and stuff, will probably have a little regulation involved, so the answer is going to probably be yes.
You will most likely need a business license, a resale license, and a health permit.

because it can't be taxed. Its a plant and it grows freely anybody can get a hold of it. the government loves money and taxing marijuana is not possible for a free growing plant.
The right wing was wrong about veitnam and they are really mad about it.They knew that most hippies smoked marijuana so from that time forward they worked to outlaw marijuana to get back at their old enemies.

Setting aside the reasons it became illegal in the first place (this has as much to do with taxes as it does a way of class control) there are multiple reasons its not legal (they're not necessarily good reasons all the time)
1. Fear.Much of this is propaganda, but it is a mind altering drug no matter how you slice it.
2. Taxation/Regulation.If legalized it should be taxed but getting people to agree on how is not easy, so in the mean time it stays illegal.
3. The few proposals that have made it to the voting level, such as California's last one, are often poorly thought out with giant loopholes on regulations and taxes.California's left it up to local government to figure out regulation and taxes which is a joke.It's got to be at least at the state level.
4. A fact that nobody really seems to want to admit is that most of the long term effects of marijuana use or not known.Few longitudinal studies have been made of most of the results are inconclusive or the science is rejected as poor.Actually one that has been found is a significant increase in the risk of some people for developing brain cancer.Tobacco and alcohol may be worse in the long term (or they may not) butcomparing them is moot.You might argue they should be illegal (and many have) but that has no baring on whether marijuana should or shouldn't.
